I arrived just as it had gotten dark. The valet told me how much it cost to use the service, and I remember when I signed up for the conference that "self-park" was available as well. I felt the valet pricing was VERY high, so I asked where the self-park was. He gave me directions, and that the parking garage was closed. After driving 8 hours, now in darkness in Chicago, I drove for another 15 minutes trying to find close parking, as I had my luggage with me. There was nothing close that I felt comfortable parking at, and hauling my luggage a couple of blocks in downtown Chicago. So, I was stuck with using the valet for my 3 days there. The hotel is very nice. But research parking/valet options before you go. Ray

Overall we had a great stay and the staff at the hotel is fantastic. Unfortunately, the spa within the hotel closed and they referred us to an outside provider who was noted to be able to provide in room services. We called and made arrangements, only to have them cancelled at the last minute by the outside provider. When we called to inquire and possibly reschedule, we were told that one of the providers had an emergency (understandable) and that the other was cancelled because they could not get in touch with us. When the appointment was booked, the phone number was repeated back to us by the person making the appointment. The person taking the call may have transcribed it wrong, however there was a lack of any professionalism to try to rectify the situation or admit any culpability. Again, not on the hotel itself, but they did recommend this provider for said service.

Great location, I enjoyed my rm. Check-in was early and well appreciated.

At check-in, I was told my original room was not available and that I was "upgraded" to a different room. This room had a nice view, but the bathroom sink faucet leaked, and the shower door was not sealed, leading to a pool forming in the bathroom after taking a brief shower. The worst thing about the trip was that I left in the morning and came back in the evening to find my door was left wide open all day. I had to clear my room for burglars and check that none of my belongings were stolen, then called the front desk to get someone to check the electronic door for tampering. A manager came to check the door and told me I would be called about the situation in a few minutes. I waited an hour before I called the front desk myself and was told they could only tell a staff card was used on the door, but had no idea whether my room was broken into, or left open my accident. I was refunded the room stay in the course of the staff's "investigation" but this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel anywhere. I will be recommending anyone I know to stay away from booking with this hotel in the future because of these alarming problems.
